Dale Earnhardt’s Widow to Develop Massive Industrial Park Near NASCAR Legend’s Highway

Teresa Earnhardt Plans Industrial Park on Former NASCAR Legend’s Land

Teresa Earnhardt, the widow of NASCAR icon Dale Earnhardt, has unveiled plans to transform 399 acres of rural land in east Mooresville into an industrial park. The proposed Mooresville Technology Park would be situated between Patterson Farm Road and Rustic Road, near Cabarrus County, and just off N.C. 3, also known as Dale Earnhardt Highway.

The site for the planned development lies approximately 2.5 miles from Dale Earnhardt Inc., the racing headquarters located on N.C. 3 in Mooresville. This proximity underscores the deep connections between the Earnhardt family and the local area.

Dale Earnhardt, a Kannapolis native and seven-time NASCAR champion, tragically lost his life in a crash during the final lap of the Daytona 500 on February 18, 2001. His legacy continues to resonate in the region, with the state route outside his former headquarters renamed N.C. 3, although officials maintain this was not related to Earnhardt’s iconic car number.

Teresa Earnhardt is scheduled to present her rezoning request at the Mooresville Planning Board meeting on October 22. The property owner is listed as Earnhardt Farms LLC, with Teresa Earnhardt as the sole managing member. Following the Planning Board’s review, they will make recommendations to the Mooresville Board of Commissioners, who will ultimately decide on the rezoning request. A date for the commissioners’ review has not yet been set.

This development marks a significant shift in land use for the area, potentially bringing new economic opportunities to the region while transforming part of the Earnhardt family’s holdings. As the project moves forward, it will likely draw attention from both the local community and NASCAR fans who continue to honor Dale Earnhardt’s memory.
