Valve Launches Limited-Edition White Steam Deck OLED
Valve has officially released a limited-edition white Steam Deck OLED, nearly three years after initially teasing the color variant. The highly anticipated model will be available for purchase on November 18th at 3PM PT / 6PM ET, priced at $679. Valve confirmed that the white Steam Deck will be sold in all regions where the Steam Deck is currently available, including Australia and parts of Asia.
The white Steam Deck OLED boasts identical internal specifications to the standard 1TB OLED model. However, it comes with exclusive white accessories, including a carrying case and a microfiber cleaning cloth. This limited-edition variant is priced $30 higher than its standard counterpart.
Valve has emphasized that stock for the white Steam Deck has been allocated proportionally across regions. Once the initial stock is depleted, there are no plans for additional production runs of this color variant.
While the Steam Deck OLED remains a highly recommended handheld gaming device, competitors like the Asus ROG Ally X offer comparable performance and battery life. Interestingly, the ROG Ally X, which was originally white, is now available in black, marking a reverse color transition compared to the Steam Deck.
The white Steam Deck’s journey began as a prototype inspired by the game *Portal*, featuring an Aperture Science logo. Although this prototype was never intended for sale, it sparked significant interest in customization options among Steam Deck enthusiasts, leading to the popularity of themed stickers and thumbstick covers.
As the limited-edition white Steam Deck OLED hits the market, gaming enthusiasts and collectors alike are expected to show keen interest in this exclusive color variant.
