Valve Slashes Price of 512GB Steam Deck LCD in Autumn Sale
Valve has announced a significant price reduction for its 512GB Steam Deck LCD model as part of the ongoing Steam Autumn Sale. The handheld gaming device is now available for $336.75, down from its original price of $449. The sale, which commenced today, is set to continue until December 4th at 1PM ET.
However, potential buyers should act quickly, as the 512GB Steam Deck LCD has been discontinued. This discontinuation raises the possibility that the model may sell out before the sale period ends. Already, the 64GB model, which was also discounted, has gone out of stock.
The discontinuation of the 512GB LCD model is noteworthy, despite its less vibrant display compared to the OLED version. At its regular price, it served as a more economical alternative to the OLED model, which is priced $100 higher. Both versions offer identical storage capacity and gaming performance.
The Steam Deck has proven capable of running demanding AAA titles such as “Baldur’s Gate 3” and “Elden Ring,” games known for their substantial storage requirements. This performance capability underscores the value of the 512GB model for serious gamers.
Launched in 2022, the Steam Deck now faces competition from newer handheld devices like the Asus ROG Ally X and Lenovo Legion Go. Valve’s decision to offer a clearance price on the 512GB LCD model appears to be a strategic move to maintain competitiveness in an increasingly crowded market.
As the sale continues, gamers looking for a high-capacity handheld device at a reduced price may find this offer particularly appealing. However, with limited stock and a finite sale period, interested buyers are advised to make their purchases promptly.
