Samsung Enhances Extended Warranty Plans with Free Glass Repairs
Samsung has announced significant improvements to its extended warranty plans, offering subscribers enhanced benefits at no additional cost. The tech giant’s latest offering includes unlimited same-day glass repairs for select plans, a service that previously incurred a $29 fee for subscribers.
Under the new Care Plus Theft and Loss plan, subscribers will now enjoy complimentary glass repairs. This coverage extends to the outer screen, back panel, and inner screens on folding phones. The inclusion of inner screen repairs is particularly noteworthy, as these can be costly without warranty coverage.
Samsung’s pricing structure for these plans is tiered based on device categories. For instance, Tier 4 devices like the Galaxy S24 Ultra are priced at $18 per month, while the Galaxy S24 Plus and regular S24 are set at $15 and $10 per month, respectively. Customers have the option to pay monthly for a three-year term, although the coverage itself lasts for two years. Alternatively, an upfront payment option is available, with a two-year Care Plus plan for the Galaxy S24 Ultra priced at $259.
The Care Plus Theft and Loss plan comes at a premium of $90 over the regular Care Plus plan. However, this additional investment could prove worthwhile for users prone to device damage or loss. A cost-benefit analysis suggests that three screen repairs would be needed to break even between the two plans. The Theft and Loss plan also offers additional benefits, such as device replacement for a flat fee.
This enhanced coverage is particularly appealing for folding phone users who may have concerns about potential inner screen damage. As smartphone prices continue to rise, these improved benefits are being viewed as a positive development in the mobile device warranty landscape.
