Death Stranding Director’s Cut Arrives on Xbox Series X/S
Kojima Productions has announced that Death Stranding Director’s Cut is now available on Xbox Series X and S consoles. The game, which marks Hideo Kojima’s first independent release since departing from Konami, is being offered at a 50 percent discount for a limited time to celebrate its Xbox debut.
Originally launched in 2019, Death Stranding has seen releases on various platforms including PlayStation 5, PC, Mac, and iOS. The Director’s Cut, despite its name, is not a traditional director’s cut but rather an enhanced version of the original game with additional content.
In a move to broaden its audience, Death Stranding has also launched on Amazon’s Luna game streaming service. This expansion strategy by Kojima Productions aims to make the title accessible to a wider range of players across different gaming platforms.
The success of Death Stranding has fueled significant growth for Kojima Productions. The studio has announced a sequel slated for release in 2025 and is collaborating with A24 on a live-action film adaptation. Notably, Kojima Productions retains full ownership of the Death Stranding intellectual property.
Beyond the Death Stranding franchise, Kojima Productions is actively developing other projects. These include the horror game OD and a new tactical espionage title, further diversifying the studio’s portfolio in the gaming industry.
