A new report suggests Apple is readying an entirely new ecosystem for the next year. The report says Apple is working on a new operating system called xrOS. Like iOS and macOS, the new name suggests the platform is a major component of the headset. The headset will reportedly feature a pair of 8K displays and an M1 processor, and come with a hefty price tag. In a patent filing with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, Apple has described a “Self-Mixing Interferometry-Based Input Device” or an Apple Ring. An Apple Ring would presumably have health features that work independently from a headset as well, similar to the Oura Smart Ring that tracks sleep, readiness, and activity. . . .
