Nintendo Unveils Enhanced Pro Controller for Upcoming Switch 2
Nintendo has revealed its latest iteration of the Pro Controller, designed specifically for the highly anticipated Switch 2 console. The new controller introduces several key features and improvements, aiming to enhance the gaming experience for Switch enthusiasts.
Among the most notable additions are the “GL” and “GR” buttons, strategically placed on the rear grips. These buttons can be remapped to any desired input, offering players unprecedented customization options. The controller also introduces a dedicated “C” button for voice and video chat functionality, streamlining communication during gameplay.
In response to user feedback, Nintendo has incorporated a 3.5mm audio jack, allowing for direct headset and microphone connectivity. This addition addresses a long-standing request from the gaming community.
The controller’s design has undergone significant refinement, with grips inspired by the beloved GameCube controller. Control sticks have been improved for smoother and quieter operation, though Nintendo has not confirmed whether Hall effect technology has been implemented.
Aesthetically, the new Pro Controller sports a sleek matte black finish, replacing the semitransparent plastic of its predecessor. A touch of glossy white plastic along the top edge adds a modern flair to the design.
While maintaining a traditional layout similar to the original Switch Pro Controller, the new model features larger buttons and triggers compared to the Joy-Con controllers. This design choice aims to provide a more comfortable option for extended gaming sessions.
The enhanced Pro Controller is priced at $79.99, a $10 increase from the previous version. Although an official release date has not been confirmed, industry insiders expect it to launch alongside the Switch 2 on June 5th.
As of April 2nd, Nintendo has released new images and additional details about the controller, generating excitement among the gaming community. The company continues its tradition of offering alternative controller options, catering to diverse player preferences and playstyles.
