Stellantis Reportedly Scraps Long-Range Ram 1500 Rev, Focuses on 350-Mile Option
Stellantis, the multinational automotive manufacturing corporation, is reportedly canceling the 500-mile range version of its highly anticipated Ram 1500 Rev electric pickup truck. According to internal emails obtained by Mopar Insiders and reported by Motor Trend, the company will now focus solely on a 350-mile range option.
The cancellation affects the larger 229kWh battery version, with Stellantis now concentrating on a 168kWh battery. Despite the reduction, this battery capacity still surpasses Ford’s mid-tier F-150 Lightning Flash, which offers a 320-mile range.
In addition to this strategic shift, the all-electric Ram 1500 Rev has been delayed to 2026, pushing back its initial release date set for the first half of this year. The delay is reportedly due to Stellantis prioritizing the launch of the hybrid Ramcharger. As of now, Stellantis has not officially commented on the status of the long-range Ram 1500 Rev.
Both the Ramcharger and the Rev utilize Stellantis’ STLA Frame body-on-frame platform, which supports various powertrains including electric, gas, hybrid, and hydrogen. The gas range-extended Ramcharger boasts an impressive 690-mile range on a full charge and tank.
These changes come amid the new Trump administration’s rollback of Biden’s electric vehicle and emissions policies, potentially influencing automakers’ strategies in the EV market. Furthermore, Mopar Insiders reports that work on the STLA Large platform-based Chrysler C6X EV has also been stalled.
As the automotive industry continues to evolve, Stellantis’ decision to focus on a single range option for the Ram 1500 Rev reflects the ongoing challenges and strategic considerations in the electric vehicle sector.
