2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N: Rally-Inspired Electric SUV Redefines Performance

Hyundai Unveils High-Performance Ioniq 5 N: A Rally-Inspired Electric SUV

Hyundai has officially introduced the 2025 Ioniq 5 N, a high-performance version of its compact electric SUV, set to compete with rivals like the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT and Tesla Model Y Performance. This latest addition to Hyundai’s N performance line brings a unique blend of retro rally car aesthetics and cutting-edge EV technology.

The Ioniq 5 N, showcased in a striking “Soultronic Orange” paint, features significant aerodynamic enhancements including wings, active air flaps, a large spoiler, and a rear diffuser. Its dimensions have been altered to be lower, wider, and longer than the standard model, complemented by 21-inch wheels fitted with Pirelli P-Zero tires.

Built on Hyundai’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the Ioniq 5 N boasts impressive charging capabilities. It can achieve an 80% charge in just 18 minutes using a DC fast charger, or fully charge in 7 hours with a 240V level-two charger. However, the vehicle’s range is limited to 221 miles, which may be further affected by weather conditions and driving style.

Performance-wise, the Ioniq 5 N doesn’t disappoint. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.25 seconds and reaches a top speed of 162 mph. A unique ‘N Grin Boost’ feature provides additional power output for short bursts. Interestingly, Hyundai has incorporated elements to simulate an internal combustion engine experience, including a tachometer and paddle shifters.

Inside, the Ioniq 5 N focuses on a utilitarian design with excellent ergonomics and storage. Special lightweight sport bucket seats feature light-up “N” logos. The vehicle is equipped with a configurable digital instrument display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen running Hyundai’s infotainment system, which includes performance menus and a surround-view camera. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard.

The rear cabin offers ample legroom, USB sockets, and AC vents. Cargo space is generous at 26.1 cubic feet, expandable to 59.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. Additional underfloor storage is available for charging cables and a tire inflation kit.

Safety hasn’t been overlooked, with the Ioniq 5 N featuring a comprehensive suite of technologies including a surround-view monitor, blind-spot monitors, smart cruise control, and lane assist systems.

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N represents a compelling blend of modern EV performance and a nostalgic rally car feel. While its limited battery range may be a concern for some, the overall driving experience and performance capabilities make it a noteworthy contender in the high-performance EV market.
