Cards Against Humanity Sues SpaceX for $15 Million Over Land Dispute
Cards Against Humanity (CAH), the popular party game company, has filed a $15 million lawsuit against SpaceX, alleging that the aerospace manufacturer dumped construction equipment on CAH’s private land in Texas. The lawsuit, filed in Cameron County District Court, claims that SpaceX treated the property as its own for six months, causing significant damage.
The dispute centers around a piece of land that CAH purchased seven years ago as part of its “CAH Saves America” campaign. At the time, 150,000 donors contributed $15 each to protect the land from the proposed border wall during the Trump administration.
According to the complaint, SpaceX’s actions have resulted in cleared vegetation, compacted soil, and the creation of an unsafe site. Photographic evidence provided by CAH shows a stark contrast between the property’s condition in 2017 and its current state.
In response to the alleged damage, CAH claims that SpaceX issued a 12-hour ultimatum to accept an offer for half the land’s value. The game company’s response was unequivocal: “Go f— yourself, Elon Musk. We’ll see you in court.”
This legal action aligns with CAH’s history of using pranks and stunts to highlight social issues and injustices. The company has previously targeted public figures such as Donald Trump and Elon Musk in its campaigns.
If CAH wins the lawsuit, the company has suggested that donors could potentially receive a share of the net proceeds, estimated at around $100 each. However, CAH acknowledges the challenges of facing Musk’s substantial resources in court.
To raise awareness about the case, CAH has called on supporters to post about the issue on social media and has provided a dedicated website: www.ElonOwesYou100Dollars.com.
As of now, neither Cards Against Humanity nor SpaceX has responded to requests for comment on the ongoing legal matter.
