Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 index drops 1.5% to 26,793.32, while the Kospi in Seoul fell 1.82% to 2,384.69. The Nasdaq, S&P 500 and Russell 2000 all on pace to for losses of 6% or more in June. Investors are awaiting comments later in the day by Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and other top central bankers. Investors face a pervasive list of concerns centering around rising inflation squeezing businesses and consumers. Central banks are raising rates to try and temper inflation but investors fear they could go too far and push into a recession. The Conference Board reported that its consumer confidence index fell in June to its lowest level in more than a year, results that were much weaker than economists . . .
