Mary Davis, CEO of Special Olympics International, was presented with the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award at a gala awards ceremony last night in Powerscourt Hotel, Co. Wicklow. Mary leads a team of more than 200 professionals throughout the world who are addressing inactivity, injustice, intolerance and social isolation for people with intellectual disabilities. The theme for this year’s awards was The Changemakers. Mary got involved with Special Olympics as a volunteer and coach after she graduated from college. She first got involved as a Special Olympics volunteer and coached and got involved soon after college. This year marks 25 years of EY entrepreneurship programme in Ireland. Mary Davis is the first woman to win the award for the first time in Ireland . . .
