The “Seamless Updates” feature is implemented in the system partition of a device where the firmware is installed. Using A and B partitions make it possible for many Android devices to install OTA updates in the background, with the only downtime experienced by the user is the time it takes to reboot the phone. The original Google Pixel launched with Seamless updates and many Android OEMs have adopted the feature. As one of top Android smartphone brands in the world, Samsung is one of the brands that has yet to implement this feature to its smartphones – flagships included the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra.
