Teresa Earnhardt Plans Industrial Park Development on 399 Acres in Mooresville
Teresa Earnhardt, the widow of NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt, is set to propose the development of a 399-acre industrial park in east Mooresville. The project, dubbed Mooresville Technology Park, would be situated between Patterson Farm Road and Rustic Road, near the Cabarrus County line.
The proposed site is near Dale Earnhardt Inc., the racing headquarters located on N.C. 3, also known as Dale Earnhardt Highway. This connection to the Earnhardt legacy adds significance to the development plans.
Dale Earnhardt, a Kannapolis native and NASCAR icon, tragically lost his life in a crash during the 2001 Daytona 500. The nearby N.C. 3 was renamed in his honor, though officials maintain the change was not directly related to his car number.
Teresa Earnhardt is scheduled to present the rezoning request at the Mooresville Planning Board meeting on October 22. The property is owned by Earnhardt Farms LLC, with Teresa serving as the sole managing member. While the Planning Board will provide recommendations on the rezoning application, the final decision rests with the Mooresville Board of Commissioners.
This development comes as the Earnhardt name continues to make headlines in the racing world. Richard Childress, a longtime friend, and NASCAR team owner, recently announced plans to auction a preserved Dale Earnhardt race car to raise funds for COVID-19 relief efforts.
As Mooresville considers this significant land development proposal, the project represents a potential new chapter in the Earnhardt family’s impact on the local community and economy.
