Marvel Snap Set to Return to App Stores Following TikTok-Related Outage
Marvel Snap, the popular mobile card game featuring Marvel superheroes, is poised to make a comeback on app stores after a temporary removal due to its association with ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company. The game’s absence was part of a broader outage affecting several ByteDance-owned applications.
Developer Second Dinner has announced that the process of restoring Marvel Snap to Google Play is underway. The company expects the game to be available on both Google’s and Apple’s app stores as early as next week, much to the relief of its dedicated player base.
Currently, Marvel Snap remains under the management of its original publisher, Nuverse. However, Second Dinner has revealed plans to bring more services in-house and partner with a new publisher in the future, signaling a potential shift in the game’s operations.
To compensate for the inconvenience caused by the outage, affected players will receive generous compensation packages. US-based accounts can look forward to in-game credits, tokens, and special variants. Meanwhile, players outside the US will receive a “Global Gratitude Package” offering similar benefits.
The Marvel Snap situation highlights ongoing issues faced by ByteDance-affiliated apps in app stores. Other popular applications like CapCut and Lemon8 also experienced outages and remain unavailable for download. These disruptions stem from legal uncertainties surrounding the hosting of these apps, following recent US government actions against TikTok.
As Marvel Snap prepares for its return, players and industry observers alike will be watching closely to see how this situation unfolds and what it might mean for the future of ByteDance-associated apps in the US market.
