Shares are sharply lower in Asia after a broad retreat on Wall Street. The Dow Jones Industrial Average sank more than 1,100 points, or 3.6%, and the S&P 500 had its biggest drop in nearly two years. Japan recorded a trade deficit in April as imports ballooned 28% as energy prices soared amid the war in Ukraine and the yen weakened against the dollar. The Nikkei 225 in Tokyo lost 2.7% to 26,196.50 and the Hang Seng in Hong Kong dropped 3.1% to 20,007.39. The Nasdaq slid 566.37 points to 11,418.15, and Russell 2000 fell 65.45 points to 1,774.85 on Thursday. . . .
