Toyota Expands European EV Lineup with New C-HR Plus and Updated bZ4X
Toyota has announced significant updates to its European electric vehicle (EV) offerings, introducing the all-electric Toyota C-HR Plus and unveiling a refreshed version of its bZ4X model.
The new Toyota C-HR Plus, built on the company’s e-TNGA platform, will be available with two battery options. The standard 57.7 kWh battery offers a range of 455km (approximately 283 miles), while the larger 77 kWh battery extends the range to an impressive 600km (about 373 miles). The C-HR Plus maintains recognizable design elements of the C-HR line while featuring noticeable differences from its hybrid counterparts.
Alongside the C-HR Plus, Toyota has also updated its bZ4X model. The refreshed bZ4X utilizes the same dual-battery, e-TNGA platform as the C-HR Plus. It features a slightly smaller 73.1kWh battery in its long-range version, providing a cruising range of 445km (about 276.5 miles) or 573km (about 356 miles), depending on the configuration.
These range improvements represent a significant upgrade over the 2023 bZ4X model, whose long-range version had an EPA-estimated range of 252 miles. The enhancements address previous shortcomings and aim to boost the model’s competitiveness in the rapidly evolving EV market.
Industry insiders note that Toyota plans to retire the current naming strategy for the bZ4X, potentially signaling a broader shift in the company’s EV branding approach. As Toyota continues to expand its electric offerings, market analysts are closely watching how these updated models will be positioned and priced in the competitive European EV landscape.
