TikTok’s Global Business Chief to Step Down Amid Reorganization
TikTok’s president of global business solutions, Blake Chandlee, has announced his departure from the role next month as part of a significant company restructuring. The reorganization will merge TikTok’s advertising and marketing operations with its monetization product technology team.
Will Liu, a seasoned product executive, has been tapped to lead the newly combined group. Chandlee, who has been instrumental in TikTok’s rapid growth, will transition to an advisory role within the company.
As part of the leadership changes, Khartoon Weiss will take charge of the global business solutions team in North America and spearhead the global agency and accounts team.
This executive shuffle comes at a challenging time for TikTok, as the company faces ongoing scrutiny and potential legislative action in the United States. The platform is currently grappling with a divest-or-ban law that could significantly impact its U.S. operations.
Chandlee’s exit follows other recent high-profile departures, including Ole Obermann, who served as the global head of music business development.
In a memo to staff, Chandlee reflected on TikTok’s journey and the evolution of the Global Business Solutions (GBS) team from its startup phase to becoming the fastest-growing ads business globally. He emphasized the strategic importance of integrating GBS with the Global Monetization Product Technology (GMPT) team to streamline operations and enhance market responsiveness.
The reorganization aims to improve communication, accelerate product launches, and boost client satisfaction. Chandlee expressed confidence in Liu’s leadership, citing his strong background in product and engineering.
As TikTok navigates these organizational changes and external challenges, the company remains focused on innovation and maintaining its position as a leading player in the social media landscape.
