Stocks Open Higher as Banks Give Updates

The S&P 500 advanced 0.7% after the broad index on Friday ended higher, snapping a five-day losing streak. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.6% while the technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index gained 1%. Investors considered another set of earnings reports from major companies and looked ahead to a week of key central-bank meetings. The market is set to get back to normalcy on Monday as the U.S. prepares for a busy week of central bank meetings in the coming weeks.
