2023 is shaping up to be a big year for Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass. The company’s head honcho, Phil Spencer, recently spoke about the importance of two upcoming titles, Starfield and Redfall, in helping to bolster the subscription service this year.
Spencer acknowledged that 2022 had been somewhat lacklustre for Xbox Game Pass due to a dearth of new releases from major studios. He noted that while there were some smaller indie games available on the platform during this time period, they weren’t enough to keep subscribers engaged long-term – something he hopes will change with Starfield and Redfall later in 2023.
The release date of both games has not yet been announced but it seems likely they’ll arrive sometime around mid-year or late summer given their status as “really important” titles according to Spencer himself. Both are expected to bring exciting new experiences into players’ homes via PC Game Pass and could potentially offer an enticing alternative for those who have grown tired of existing offerings on other platforms such as PlayStation Plus or Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions services.
