OpenAI Unveils “Images in ChatGPT” Feature Across All Subscription Tiers
OpenAI has announced the launch of a groundbreaking feature called “Images in ChatGPT,” enabling users to generate images directly within the ChatGPT interface. This new capability, powered by GPT-4o, is now available to users across all subscription levels, including ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Team, and Free tiers.
The integration of image generation into ChatGPT marks a significant advancement in AI technology. Built on the GPT-4o “omnimodal” foundation, this feature can process various data types, including text, image, audio, and video, representing a substantial leap forward from previous models.
Gabriel Goh, the research lead at OpenAI, highlighted key improvements in the new system, particularly noting enhanced “binding” capabilities. This advancement allows the AI to maintain more accurate relationships within generated images, resulting in a marked upgrade in overall image quality and functionality.
While specific usage limits for the free tier have not been disclosed, OpenAI has indicated that they will align with DALL-E’s previous restrictions. For context, free users were previously allowed to generate three images per day with DALL-E 3. However, these limits may be subject to change based on user demand and system capacity.
Despite the integration of image generation into ChatGPT, DALL-E enthusiasts will still have access to the model through a custom GPT. This move aims to provide a seamless image creation experience within the ChatGPT environment while maintaining options for dedicated users of the DALL-E platform.
As OpenAI continues to refine and expand its AI capabilities, the company has expressed its commitment to evolving the feature set and usage limits based on user feedback and demand. This development represents a significant step in OpenAI’s ongoing efforts to enhance and integrate various AI functionalities within its flagship ChatGPT platform.
