Nvidia Expands AI Footprint in India with Strategic Partnerships
Nvidia, the leading AI chip manufacturer, has announced a series of strategic partnerships in India, signaling a significant expansion into one of the world’s fastest-growing technology markets. CEO Jensen Huang unveiled these collaborations at the AI Summit event in Mumbai, aligning with the increasing trend among Indian technology service providers to enhance their AI capabilities.
In a major development, Nvidia has partnered with Reliance, India’s most valuable company, to develop AI infrastructure within the country. This collaboration aims to build a robust foundation for AI applications across various sectors.
Simultaneously, Tech Mahindra, a prominent Indian IT services company, will utilize Nvidia’s chips and software in its operations. A key project in this partnership is the development of Indus 2.0, an AI model in Hindi, addressing the growing demand for localized AI solutions.
Infrastructure providers are also joining the AI revolution. Tata Communications and Yotta Data Services have announced plans to acquire tens of thousands of Nvidia H100 chips by the end of the year, significantly boosting their AI infrastructure capabilities.
The AI Summit in Mumbai served as a platform for Nvidia to showcase its integration efforts in India. Major Indian tech companies, including Infosys and Wipro, are already leveraging Nvidia’s software for custom AI applications. Wipro has trained 225,000 employees on Nvidia’s AI platforms, while Tata Consultancy Services has prepared 50,000 staff as AI associates.
In the e-commerce and software sectors, Flipkart and Zoho are set to use Nvidia’s technology for building large language models in Hindi. This move expands on Nvidia’s existing partnerships with Reliance Industries for AI cloud infrastructure and language models.
Nvidia’s support extends to Indian startups as well. Companies like CoRover.ai are utilizing Nvidia’s technology to develop multilingual chatbots. CoRover.ai’s chatbot for Indian Railways, which handles 150,000 daily queries and has facilitated over 10 billion interactions, exemplifies the practical applications of this technology.
The company’s efforts in workforce development are equally impressive, with over 500,000 Indian developers joining Nvidia’s developer program. Nvidia has already trained more than 100,000 Indian AI developers, positioning itself strongly in the competitive landscape against rivals AMD and Intel in India’s burgeoning AI chip market.
As these partnerships unfold, Nvidia’s strategic moves in India are set to significantly impact the country’s AI ecosystem, potentially reshaping the technological landscape in one of the world’s most populous nations.
