Nintendo Switch 2 Design Leaked by Case Manufacturer
In a surprising turn of events, accessory manufacturer Dbrand has potentially unveiled the design of Nintendo’s highly anticipated Switch successor. The company’s announcement of its “Killswitch 2” case has sparked intense speculation about the next-generation console, expected to be revealed before April 2025.
Dbrand’s render of the case, featuring a mockup of the new console, showcases several key differences from the original Switch and Switch OLED models. Most notably, the device appears larger, with a second button added to the right Joy-Con controller.
Adam Ijaz, CEO of Dbrand, expressed confidence in the case dimensions, stating they were based on a 3D scan of the actual hardware. According to the company, the Switch 2 is expected to measure 270mm wide, 116mm tall, and 14mm thick, making it slightly larger than its predecessor.
The console portion itself is rumored to be 203mm wide, with an 8-inch screen. A notable design change includes magnetic attachment of the Joy-Cons, complete with an ejection button for easy removal.
One of the most intriguing features is a new square button on the right Joy-Con, marked with a “C.” While its exact function remains unknown, speculation suggests it could be related to camera control.
Despite the wealth of information provided by Dbrand, the release date for the Switch 2 remains uncertain. The case manufacturer plans to launch its Killswitch 2 in late March or early April, potentially hinting at a similar timeframe for the console’s debut.
While details about Nintendo’s TV dock remain undisclosed, the mockup reveals a second USB-C port on the top of the device, possibly allowing for charging while in tabletop mode.
Dbrand’s reveal aligns with other recent leaks and mockups, lending credibility to the design. The company has a history of revealing information about upcoming consoles, often employing bold marketing strategies involving major gaming companies.
Nintendo has previously confirmed that the new console will be backward compatible with current Switch games and will include the Nintendo Switch Online service. As anticipation builds, gamers and industry insiders alike eagerly await official confirmation from Nintendo regarding these leaked design features and specifications.
