LGBTQ+ Professionals Unite: Famm Connect App Launches to Empower Queer Business Community

Famm Launches New Social Networking App for LGBTQ+ Professionals

Famm, a discovery platform for queer-owned brands, has unveiled Famm Connect, a groundbreaking social networking app designed specifically for LGBTQ+ professionals. Founded by BIPOC queer married couple Cat Perez and Marianna Di Regolo, Famm aims to help users find and support LGBTQ-owned businesses while fostering connections within the community.

The launch of Famm Connect comes at a crucial time when LGBTQ+ individuals continue to face challenges in professional settings, including discrimination, microaggressions, and biases. Many struggle to find support on mainstream networks and often hesitate to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Famm Connect offers standard social networking features such as a feed, direct messaging, and connection management. However, it distinguishes itself by providing a safe and inclusive space for authentic engagement. The app introduces “Open to” tags for user profiles, allowing individuals to indicate their purposes for networking, such as coffee chats, mentoring, or volunteering.

With approximately 1.4 million LGBTQ-owned businesses in the U.S., Famm Connect plans to incorporate business listings for advertising. This feature addresses challenges faced by queer-owned businesses on larger platforms, where terminology issues often lead to flagging or banning. Initially, business listings will be free, with premium profiles priced at $20 per month or $200 per year in the future.

The app also includes sections for in-person networking events and job listings, as well as sponsored posts. Famm Connect is available for free download but currently operates on an invite-only basis. Users have unlimited referrals to invite others to join the platform.

Perez and Di Regolo emphasize the importance of representation for LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs and business owners. They stress the need for mutual support within the community and encourage users to spend “queer dollars” with queer businesses.

As Famm Connect launches, it aims to provide a much-needed platform for LGBTQ+ professionals to connect, network, and support one another in a safe and inclusive digital environment.
