Kamala Harris Mobilizes New Voters, Outpaces Biden in Fundraising
Vice President Kamala Harris is making waves in the political landscape, mobilizing a significant number of new voters compared to President Joe Biden. Recent data reveals that Harris has attracted more donors in the first 10 days of her campaign than Biden did throughout his entire reelection effort.
The fundraising success of Harris’s campaign is particularly noteworthy. Between July 21 and July 31, an impressive 2.3 million individuals contributed to Harris’s campaign, surpassing the 2.1 million donors Biden accumulated over his 15-month reelection campaign. On July 21 alone, Harris received 3.5 times as many donations as Biden did on his best fundraising day.
Perhaps most striking is the fact that nearly 70% of Harris’s donors had not previously supported Biden’s campaign. This influx of new supporters suggests Harris is tapping into previously unmobilized voter demographics, particularly Generation Z. Reports indicate that Harris had ten times the number of Gen Z donors in July compared to Biden in June.
The Vice President’s ability to attract small donors has been a hallmark of her campaign since its launch. Harris broke the single-day fundraising record on the day she announced her campaign, and the financial momentum continued with a boost when Governor Tim Walz joined the ticket.
Harris’s fundraising prowess has not only energized her campaign but also erased Donald Trump’s cash advantage. Current figures show Harris with $68 million more on hand than her Republican rival.
As a Bay Area native with deep ties to Silicon Valley, Harris has garnered support from notable billionaires and business leaders. However, a vocal segment of the tech world continues to support Trump, highlighting the complex political landscape in the technology sector.
As the campaign progresses, all eyes will be on Harris’s ability to maintain this momentum and translate financial support into votes come election day.
