Google Fiber Expands to Las Vegas, Introduces New Simplified Plans
Google Fiber, now branded as GFiber, has begun construction in Las Vegas and Clark County, with service expected to be available to residents later this year. This expansion follows the company’s announcement last year and marks another step in GFiber’s growing footprint across the United States.
Currently, GFiber is available in select cities across 19 states. Recent expansions include Pocatello, Idaho; Logan, Utah; and Lakewood, Colorado. The company has also announced plans to expand its services to Lawrence, Kansas.
GFiber is known for offering symmetrical internet speeds for both uploads and downloads, a feature that sets it apart from many traditional internet service providers.
In a move to simplify its offerings, Google has introduced new “lifestyle-based” plans in Alabama and Tennessee. The streamlined options include the $70/month Core 1 Gig, $100/month Home 3 Gig, and $150/month Edge 8 Gig plans. These new tiers replace the previous 1 Gig, 2 Gig, 5 Gig, and 8 Gig plans.
The rollout of these new plans is already underway, with Arizona and North Carolina next in line to receive the updated offerings. Google expects the simplified plans to be available in most GFiber cities within the next month, potentially revolutionizing high-speed internet access for millions of Americans.
