Girl Scouts’ Cookie Crisis Leads to Black Market Prices

The Raspberry Rally flavor of Girl Scout cookies has become a hot commodity, with many stores selling out quickly. This shortage has caused an unexpected black market-like resale market to form in which the cookies are being sold at eye-popping prices.

People who have been lucky enough to get their hands on these coveted treats have taken advantage of the situation by reselling them for more than double what they paid for them originally. Some people are even going so far as to buy multiple packages from different locations and then resell them online or through other means at exorbitant rates.

This is not how Girl Scouts intended their products to be handled, but it’s hard not to understand why some people would take advantage of this opportunity when demand is so high and supply is limited. It’s also worth noting that while there may be a few individuals profiting off this situation, most customers will still pay full price for the remaining stock available in stores across the country before resorting to buying overpriced boxes online or elsewhere.
