Ford Puma Gen-E: All-Electric Crossover Revolutionizes European Market with 376km Range

Ford Unveils All-Electric Puma Gen-E for European Market

Ford Motor Company has announced a significant expansion of its electric vehicle (EV) lineup in Europe with the introduction of the all-electric Puma Gen-E. This move marks a pivotal transition for the popular Puma nameplate, shifting from its current hybrid EcoBoost powertrain to a fully electric platform.

The Puma Gen-E boasts impressive performance specifications, offering a range of 376km (233 miles) on a full charge. Utilizing a 100kW DC fast charger, the vehicle can charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 23 minutes. The electric crossover accelerates from zero to 100km/h in eight seconds, demonstrating Ford’s commitment to combining efficiency with performance.

Dimensionally, the Puma Gen-E measures 4,214mm in length, 1,930mm in width, and 1,555mm in height, positioning it competitively within Ford’s lineup and against rivals like the Chevy Bolt EV.

Design-wise, the Puma Gen-E features exterior updates inspired by the Mustang Mach-E, including a distinctive shield design. The vehicle will be available with unique alloy wheels in 17-inch and 18-inch sizes. Inside, a 12.8-inch center display powered by Ford’s Sync 4 operating system takes center stage, offering wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

A standout feature of the Puma Gen-E is the introduction of the “GigaBox,” an innovative storage solution providing an additional 145 liters (five cubic feet) of space under the trunk floor. This represents a significant increase from the 2.8 cubic feet of under-storage in the gas-powered Puma.

Production of the Puma Gen-E will take place at Ford’s assembly plant in Craiova, Romania, with electric drive units manufactured in Halewood, England. This strategic move comes amid challenges for Ford in Europe, including recent plant idling in Cologne and workforce reductions. The Puma Gen-E is poised to play a crucial role in bolstering Ford’s market presence in the region.

Customers can now place orders for the Puma Gen-E, with deliveries expected to commence in spring 2025. Pricing information is yet to be announced.

As Ford continues to electrify its European lineup, the Puma Gen-E represents a significant step towards the company’s goal of an all-electric future in the region.
