Flagging Down A Roaming AI Self-Driving Car Robo-Taxi Might Not Be In The Cards

Semi-autonomous cars are becoming increasingly common on the roads, but there is a disturbing trend that people need to be aware of. Despite videos of people falling asleep at the wheel while driving Level 2 and 3 cars, we should not be misled into thinking that drivers can take their attention off the road. Do you park the self-driving car somewhere and wait for a ride request? That might not be as advantageous as having it roam around, so it’s in a better place when a request comes in. It’s unlikely that anyone will flag down a self-driving car being used as a robo-taxi anytime soon, but it’s certainly something we can envision for the future.
