The FDA vaccine advisory board voted in favor of authorizing the Novavax COVID vaccine. The vaccine has been in development for quite some time and is said to be 90% effective in adults 18 to 65 years old. Vaccine is made out of protein rather than mRNA such as Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson. The FDA can now issue its authorization for the CDC’s review before giving its recommendation. It could take weeks after authorization before the vaccine is made available to the public. Experts say the vaccine will be affected by new variants, which can reduce the effectiveness of vaccines going forward, but all the companies are looking at addressing that situation with changing how many strains the vaccines can address at the time, updating the vaccines overtime. . . .
