Atlas, Boston Dynamics’ bipedal humanoid robot, is no stranger to failing hilariously. A video recently surfaced of the robot attempting a task and not succeeding in the slightest. The footage shows Atlas trying to navigate an obstacle course but instead ending up on its face or butt multiple times as well as freezing up like it has no idea what’s going on around it.
The sight of this robotic failure is both comical and concerning at the same time. It’s funny because robots are usually portrayed in movies and media as being perfect machines that never make mistakes; however, reality paints a different picture with this particular model from Boston Dynamics struggling so hard with such simple tasks. On the other hand though, it does raise questions about how reliable these robots really are if they can’t even manage something like walking through an obstacle course without falling over every few steps?
Still though there’s something oddly endearing about watching Atlas try again after each failed attempt despite knowing full well that he’ll just fail again anyway – almost like he knows his limitations yet still tries his best regardless! In any case, whether you find yourself laughing or worrying at its struggles one thing remains clear: we have quite a ways to go before we reach true human-like AI.
