Apple Set to Unveil New iPhone SE with Major Design Overhaul

Apple is poised to launch its latest product today, widely believed to be the 2025 iPhone SE. This new iteration of Apple’s affordable smartphone line is expected to introduce significant changes, marking a departure from its traditional design.

Industry insiders suggest that the most notable change will be the removal of the classic home button, a feature that has been synonymous with the iPhone SE since its inception in 2016. In its place, the new model is anticipated to adopt Face ID technology, aligning it more closely with Apple’s flagship devices.

The announcement is likely to be made via Apple’s website, foregoing a full-scale launch event. This approach is consistent with previous SE releases, which have typically been more low-key affairs.

Design-wise, the new iPhone SE is expected to bear a striking resemblance to the iPhone 14, complete with a notch to house the Face ID sensors. Leaked images and videos circulating online have fueled speculation about these design changes, with case manufacturers already showcasing renders of the new form factor.

In terms of features, the SE 4 is rumored to include a customizable Action button, a single rear camera (possibly with a 48-megapixel sensor), and a 12-megapixel front-facing camera. The display is set to receive a significant upgrade, featuring a larger 6.1-inch OLED screen, a notable increase from previous SE models.

Connectivity and performance upgrades are also on the horizon. The 2025 SE will reportedly switch from a Lightning port to USB-C, in compliance with EU regulations. It’s expected to be powered by the A18 chip, matching the performance of the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro models. With 8GB of RAM, the device should be capable of supporting Apple’s new AI tools.

Perhaps most intriguingly, the new SE is rumored to feature Apple’s first in-house 5G modem, though it may be limited to sub-6 5G capabilities.

As for pricing and availability, the new SE is anticipated to retail around $500, a slight increase from its predecessor. Storage options are likely to start at 128GB, eliminating the previous 64GB tier.

While speculation about a potential name change to “iPhone 16E” has circulated, industry experts believe Apple will stick with the SE branding. This launch is part of a series of iPhone releases expected from Apple this year, signaling an active product cycle for the tech giant.
