Ring Founder Jamie Siminoff Returns to Amazon as Vice President
Jamie Siminoff, the founder of Ring, has made a surprising return to Amazon as a vice president, the company announced today. In his new role, Siminoff will lead teams responsible for Ring, Blink, Amazon Key, and Sidewalk, replacing Liz Hamren, who had succeeded him after his initial departure.
Siminoff expressed his enthusiasm for rejoining the company, praising Hamren’s leadership and the team’s accomplishments during his absence. He particularly emphasized the current AI transformation as a significant opportunity for innovation in the smart home sector.
As part of his responsibilities, Siminoff will oversee multiple Amazon device teams, focusing on creating integrated experiences across the company’s product lineup. His primary objective will be to enhance safety, connectivity, and information delivery for Amazon customers.
In collaboration with Panos Panay, another recent high-profile hire at Amazon, Siminoff aims to develop devices that not only excel individually but also work seamlessly together. The duo is committed to delivering a cohesive and “magical” connected experience for users.
Prior to his return, Siminoff had ventured into other projects after leaving Amazon. He successfully sold Honest Day’s Work to Latch, which was subsequently rebranded as Door.com. Looking ahead, Siminoff plans to transition to an advisory role at Amazon in 2025.
This unexpected return of Ring’s founder to Amazon signals the company’s continued focus on innovation in the smart home market and its commitment to integrating AI technology across its device ecosystem.
