Amazon’s Eero Unveils New Wi-Fi 7 Mesh Routers
Amazon-owned Eero has announced the launch of its latest mesh router offerings, the Eero 7 and Eero Pro 7, both featuring Wi-Fi 7 technology. The new routers are available for preorder now and will officially launch on February 26th.
The Eero 7 and Eero Pro 7 come with varying price points to suit different consumer needs. A single Eero 7 unit is priced at $169.99, while a three-pack of the high-end Eero Pro 7 will cost $699.99.
These new routers boast impressive specifications, with the Eero 7 offering wireless throughput up to 1.8Gbps and the Eero Pro 7 reaching up to 3.9Gbps. The Eero 7 is a dual-band router operating on 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, equipped with two 2.5Gbps ethernet ports. The Pro 7 model adds a 6GHz band and features dual 5Gbps ethernet ports.
Both models incorporate Wi-Fi 7-exclusive features designed to enhance connection stability and throughput. One notable improvement is the support for 320MHz channel bandwidth on the 6GHz band, doubling the previous 160MHz maximum.
Eero emphasizes that even older, non-Wi-Fi 7 devices will benefit from the enhanced throughput provided by these new routers. The Eero 7 and Pro 7 are also more budget-friendly alternatives to the premium Eero Max 7, which is priced at $1,360 for a three-pack.
Compatibility is a key feature of the new Eero lineup. The routers integrate seamlessly with Amazon’s Alexa ecosystem and support Matter, Zigbee, and Thread Border Routers. They are also backward compatible with all Eero routers released in the past decade and work in conjunction with Amazon smart speakers like Echo Dots that have Eero mesh extender capability.
With these new additions, Eero’s Wi-Fi 7 lineup now includes four options, including an outdoor router announced in October. The company continues to offer older models such as the Eero 6, 6 Plus, and Pro 6E, which have recently seen price reductions. Prices for these older models now range from $89.99 for a single Eero 6 to $549.99 for a three-pack of Eero Pro 6E.
As Wi-Fi technology continues to evolve, Eero’s latest offerings aim to provide consumers with cutting-edge performance and a range of options to suit various needs and budgets in the increasingly connected smart home market.
