Alo Moves XR App Brings Virtual Yoga Studio to Meta Quest Headsets
Alo Moves, the popular yoga and fitness platform, has launched its XR app for Meta Quest headsets, including the latest 3S model. The app offers a mixed-reality experience for yoga, pilates, and meditation enthusiasts, bringing a virtual studio into users’ homes.
The Alo Moves XR app aims to replicate the experience of real-life classes without the need for commuting or the potential intimidation factor of a physical studio. While Alo Moves already offers classes via iPad, iPhone, and Apple TV, the VR version provides a more immersive experience.
Designed with an easy-to-use interface suitable for beginners, the app requires a subscription priced at $70 annually or $10 monthly. As of March 2025, it offers approximately 80 mixed-reality videos, categorized by type, time, and intensity level.
Users can expect a life-sized virtual instructor for guidance during sessions. The app also features mini-instructors to enhance visibility during exercises. However, it’s worth noting that the app lacks advanced tracking and feedback on posture, and offers minimal gamification compared to other VR fitness apps.
While the headset comfort is generally acceptable for most users, some may find it becomes sweaty during intense workouts. The app also requires adequate physical space for use.
For Meta Quest owners interested in yoga or pilates, Alo Moves XR offers a futuristic fitness experience with a seven-day free trial. However, it may not be a compelling reason alone to purchase a Meta Quest headset. Those without VR equipment might consider in-person classes or other fitness apps as alternatives.
